What is your approach when meeting a client for their initial design meeting?
The first step is to deeply understand the client’s vision for their space. This involves listening to their wants and needs and creating the best function around their vision. We ask targeted questions to get a clear picture of their style, materials, and budget. Leveraging experience and expertise, we then create an innovative design solution that will fit into their lifestyle and daily needs. Throughout the process we maintain a collaborative approach-- if we see something that will work, we off suggestions and ideas to the client. The only thing we don’t want to hear at the end of a project is, “Oh man, I wish we would have talked about this idea”. Archdesign Cabinetry stands out not just for our exceptional designs, but for our dedication to make each client's vision a reality through a personalized engaging design experience.
What considerations are taken when designing a space-- what are some things that other companies or designers don't consider or overlook?
Lifestyle and usage patterns are the most overlooked. Having designed tens of thousands of kitchens, we have a very good understanding of how the kitchen will function when the client begins using it. Our approach is to create not just a kitchen, but a living space that resonates with the client’s lifestyle and aesthetic preferences-- our work is not only beautiful and on-trend but also comfortable and sustainable. The comprehensive thoughtful approach is what sets us apart in the realm of kitchen design.
What is the most important step in the process that ensures a successful design?
The most important step in ensuring a successful design, particularly in the realm of custom kitchen cabinetry is the initial consultation and client discovery phase. Often overwhelming for the client, we remove a ton of stress and difficulty from this phase by implementing what the client is saying and streamlining the design process. Meaning if you say something, we know how to properly integrate it into the design and interface it with everything else that is going on, including other trades and aspects of the project.
A space that is both functional and stylish is a hard balance to reach. How do you achieve a functional and aesthetically pleasing space?
This requires a blend of practicality, creative design, and a deep understanding of the client's needs. Function and style lie in personalized design solutions that cater to the client's unique lifestyle and needs. We use thoughtful space planning, smart material choices, a keen eye for detail, and value engineering to achieve this crucial balance. By focusing on these aspects and details we craft spaces that are not only practical and efficient but visually captivating and reflective of the client's personal style.
What is your favourite type of project to work on?
My favourite projects are those that blend ultra-modern design with the rustic appeal of mountain landscapes, a style I call ‘modern mountain’. Living in the mountains, I’m inspired to create spaces that harmonize cutting-edge modernity with the natural surroundings. These designs feature sleek, minimalist elements and innovative architecture. Hence the name, ARCHDESIGN.
